The medium havana Teinture Francaise shoe dye by Saphir (500ml) colours smooth leather, suede or nubuck items and helps you create a patina.
The medium havana Teinture Francaise shoe dye by Saphir is a flagship leather care product that has long been used and recommended by both shoemakers and lovers of fine leather alike. It recolours and intensifies the shade of any type of leather and can be used for creating your very own patina to imitate the darkened areas on leather shoes. The dye comes in a large bottle, making it an economical choice for large items such as a leather couch, and small items including shoes, bags and wallets.
Use the Saphir leather dye only on leather that has been cleaned or that has had its colour removed and make sure that you are in a well-ventilated area. Cleaning the leather is important as it will ensure that dust particles do not get trapped into the leather during the dyeing process. This shoe dye can be used in different ways. You can dab it lightly onto specific areas of the leather, or apply it to an entire article. When used for small touch-ups, the dye covers up scuffs on damaged leather to restore a brand new look. When it is applied over an entire leather surface, the dye produces a Bordeaux colour. Always test a bit of the dye on a hidden area and allow it to dry for at least one hour to determine whether it produces the desired colour. This is a very important step since leather varies widely from one item to another and may not react with the dye as you would like it to. If you are satisfied with the results, apply an even first coat of the dye and allow it to dry for at least one hour. You can intensify the Bordeaux colour by applying subsequent coats, bearing in mind the minimum one-hour wait between each coat. You will need to complete the dyeing process with a shoe cream to soften and nourish the leather as the cleaning and colour removal stages cause excessive drying out. The shoe cream can also add highlights to the Bordeaux patina to make it even more intense.
Carefully close the cap of the 500ml bottle to maximise the product’s shelf life and store it in a cool, dry place.
