The Saphir black welt brush has been especially designed for removing dust and dirt from the welt stitching of your shoes, as well as applying leather care products on them.
This black welt brush by Saphir has been designed to reach very limited welt stitching space. This latter being the main feature of Goodyear shoes, it allows them to maximise their longevity. The welt is a structural characteristic of the Goodyear shoe where the outer side is visible and is sewn with a waxed thread that may get worn out with time. A well-nourished welt stitching extends the life span of your Goodyear shoes, and the Saphir black welt brush helps you get to this precise thin area. The stiffness and denseness of the boar bristles remove dirt effectively when the shoes is brushed energetically. Having only three bristles rows, the brush helps you reach the long and very narrow areas in one movement, which is notably efficient when cleaning the edges of your leather shoes. The small and convenient handle of the Saphir black welt brush has been strengthened to give you a better finger grip allowing you to vigorously clean the welt.
You may wish to use this brush to remove dirt from the welt area or for other hard-to-reach spots such as brogue perforations or the eyelets, but a simple shoe cleaning brush will do the job just as well. We advise that you reserve the welt brush for applying Dubbin grease, which is specially designed to nourish stuffed leather as well as the waxed stitching on Goodyear shoes. Lightly tap your welt brush to remove a bit of the grease and apply all around the welt to deeply nourish the waxed stitching. Make sure to rub the welt well using the welt brush so that the grease can penetrate the leather. Pay special attention to the front tip of the shoe as it is very fragile and sensitive to impact marks. The welt brush helps you complete the most important part of Goodyear shoe care by preventing the waxed stitching from drying out, which can in turn break the thread and cause the shoe's upper and sole to come loose. The welt brush is designed to be thin enough to reach only this very specific spot, without getting the grease on the shoe's upper since the leather there is smooth and will become overly supple if treated with this grease.
