With Monsieur Chaussure’s exclusive range of customised services, your shoes will benefit from the expert care of our professional shoemakers. The patinas by Monsieur Chaussure are created using highly penetrative French-made dyes. We can therefore guarantee that our patina will remain on your shoes for the entire duration of their useful life.
A word from the shoemaker:
‘For this type of patina, we start by removing some of the colour from the shoes without altering the leather surface.
Then we do a few colour tests on small areas of the leather near the sole until we find the right shades.
We then apply several layers of dyes going from light green to light blue. The Darjeeling patina texture is achieved by applying a dark green dye with a cloth.
Once we’re satisfied with the results, we leave the leather to rest a while and then apply the neutral Saphir superfine cream. We finish the patina with a high gloss shine on the stiff tip and heel areas by alternating between the Famaco Abbey beeswax yellow polish paste and the Saphir navy blue shoe polish. The glossy ends fade into the un-glossed areas so that there is no sharp difference between the two.
To maintain this patina, start by cleaning the shoes with a leather cleaner and polishing cloth. Don’t worry about altering the patina because the dyes we use are highly penetrative. We then recommend hydrating the leather by massaging it with a neutral shoe cream and polishing cloth. Use a shoe shine brush to remove any excess cream.
The Famaco Abbey neutral shoe polish can be used for both polishing and glossing. Brush the shoes vigorously with a shoe shine brush, avoiding the high-gloss extremities.’
