With Monsieur Chaussure’s exclusive range of customised services, your shoes will benefit from the expert care of our professional shoemakers. We offer high-gloss shoe polishing, known as a “glacage” to produce a stylish mirror shine on the tips and heels of your shoes where the leather is stiffer. Since this type of polishing can only be done on well-kept shoes, we always carry out a full leather care treatment on your shoes before glossing their extremities. A full leather care treatment should be done once monthly to increase the useful life of your shoes.
The shoes are first dusted with a shoe cleaning brush. Following this, a leather cleaner is applied to lift off any dirt lodged in the leather’s pores and to remove any remaining dust and old shoe polish. A shoe cream is then applied to the leather to finish off the cleaning process, deeply nourish the leather and give it an intense, renewed colour. The Saphir superfine creams are available in over 70 different shades to facilitate the best colour match while nourishing, recolouring and shining the leather. Our shoemakers will then complete the leather care process with a luxury shoe polish in the same tint as your shoes. This is a very important step as the shoe polish creates a high-gloss protective layer over your shoes that waterproofs them and further intensifies their colour.
The next stage is the actual gloss polishing. This entails a mixture of shoe polish and a bit of water that is applied to the stiff tip and heel of the shoe to create an intense mirror shine. The shoe polish used can be neutral, tinted in the same colour as the shoe, or tinted in a totally different shade to play on the leather’s undertones.
Your shoes will be returned to you in a pure cotton shoe bag and with a new pair of shoelaces.
