The dark green Teinture Francaise shoe dye by Saphir (500ml) colours smooth leather, suede or nubuck items and helps you create a patina.
The Saphir Teinture Francaise shoe dye colours both large leather items including couches and armchairs, and small dark green leather accessories such as shoes, bags, belts and wallets. This shoe dye is also ideal for creating a faded patina on leather to achieve the look of naturally aged leather. The Saphir Teinture Francaise is a daily favourite among shoemakers and has become a must-have leather care product.
Use this shoe dye only on leather that has been cleaned or that has had its colour removed to prevent dust particles from getting trapped under the dye. Cover your clothing as well as any valuable objects before using the dye and make sure that you are in a well-ventilated area. Although the dye can be occasionally used for recolouring scratched areas of dark green leather, it is sold in a large bottle to facilitate the dyeing of any large leather surface. Always test a bit of the dye on a hidden area to determine whether it produces the desired colour. This is a very important step since leather varies widely from one item to another and thus reacts differently during the dyeing process. If you are satisfied with the results, apply a thin and even first coat over the entire area you would like to dye and allow it to dry for at least one hour. If the colour is not intense enough after an hour, do not hesitate to add as many coats of dye as necessary until you obtain the colour you want. You will then need to complete the dyeing process by nourishing the leather with a tinted shoe cream, preferably in dark green, as this will hydrate the leather and reinforce the colour. For hard leather items, you can also apply a shoe polish to protect against impact and moisture damage.
Store your shoe dye in a cool, dry place to maximise its shelf life, and remember to tightly close the bottle cap to avoid wastage.
