The purple base Teinture Francaise shoe dye by Saphir (500ml) is used for colouring smooth leather, nubuck or suede.
The purple base Saphir shoe dye helps you colour leather or create a purple patina on any leather item including armchairs, accessories and shoes. The purple colour is meant to be mixed with other dyes, thus making it a must-have product for lovers of fine leather who want to personalise their leather items. The Saphir Teinture Francaise is a leading leather dye that colours leather to restore its brand new look, or creates the opposite effect of a patina which imitates the look of aged leather.
Although this dye is primarily intended for use on your leather items, it can also be used to occasionally recolour and restore the original beauty of any purple leather that has been scratched or that shows friction marks. The dye is also used on raw leather to dye the entire surface purple, or after removing a leather colour that you don’t like. Always test a bit of the dye on a hidden area to determine whether it produces the desired colour. This is a very important step since leather varies widely from one item to another and thus reacts differently during the dyeing process. If you are satisfied with the results, apply a thin and even first coat over the entire area you would like to dye and allow it to dry for at least one hour. If the purple colour is not intense enough after an hour, do not hesitate to apply additional coats of the dye, but be mindful of the one-hour drying time between each coat. Once you have obtained the desired colour, you will then need to complete the dyeing process with a shoe cream to soften the leather. Opt for a neutral shoe cream if you only want to deeply nourish the leather, or a shoe cream tinted in red or dark purple to enhance the new colour. Complete the process with a shoe polish to waterproof and shine the leather.
The 500ml bottle of shoe dye helps you colour a number of leather articles in purple. Store the dye in a cool, dry place and remember to tightly close the bottle cap to for proper conservation.
