The red Teinture Francaise shoe dye by Saphir (500ml) colours any type of smooth leather, suede or nubuck.
This large-sized shoe dye colours any leather article, no matter the size. It can be used to dye your red leather furniture, such as a couch or an armchair, or your leather coats, jackets and accessories. The Saphir leather dye also lets you create a unique patina on any pair of red leather shoes for a faux aged leather look. Both shoemakers and lovers of fine leather use and recommend this product when they want to add a personal touch to their leather items.
Use the Saphir Teinture Francaise shoe dye only on leather that has been cleaned or that has had its colour removed to ensure that dust particles do not get trapped beneath the dye. Make sure that you are in a well-ventilated area and cover your clothing and furniture before using the dye. Apply the dye on scuffed areas. This will restore the new look of the leather but will not nourish or repair it. The Teinture Francaise dye comes in a large bottle for use on large leather items that you wish to dye red. Before dyeing an entire item, we strongly recommend testing a bit of the dye on a hidden area to ensure that it reacts well with the leather. If you are satisfied with the results, apply an even first coat of the dye and allow it to dry for at least one hour. If the red shade is not intense enough, add additional coats of the dye, but be mindful of the one-hour drying time required after each coat. Once you obtain the desired colour, you will need to complete the process with a tinted shoe cream, preferably in red, to further intensify the colour. You may also wish to use another shoe cream colour to play on the undertones of the leather, or a neutral shoe cream to keep the dyed colour intact. For hard leather, you can end with a shoe polish to protect the leather against impact damage and moisture and to give it a shine.
Store the bottle of dye in a cool, dry place and close the cap tightly to avoid wastage.
