The dark brown Teinture Francaise shoe dye by Saphir (50ml) is ideal for colouring leather, nubuck and suede, or for creating a patina.
The Saphir Teinture Francaise dark brown liquid shoe dye colours any type of leather and makes it easy to create a patina. This small bottle of shoe dye is the perfect size for recolouring a pair of shoes or small leather accessories such as belts and wallets. The Saphir Teinture Francaise is highly recommended by shoemakers for its user-friendliness and is sold in a set that includes a pair of gloves and a cotton wick applicator.
For best results, use the Saphir Teinture Francaise dark brown shoe dye only on leather that has been cleaned or that has had its colour removed. This will prevent dust particles from clogging the pores of the leather. Use the dye in a well-ventilated area and cover your clothing as well as any valuable objects to prevent them from getting stained. The dye has been formulated to recolour an entire shoe, but can also be applied to areas where the leather is exposed and faded out so as to restore its original beauty. We recommend either using this dye alone or mixing it with other dyes to recolour your shoes. Test a bit of the dye on a hidden area to determine whether it produces the colour you want. Apply an initial layer of dye over the entire surface of the shoes and wait at least one hour to see what the final results are. You can then apply other coats of dye to intensify the dark brown colour, but be mindful of the one-hour drying time required after each coat. Once you are satisfied with the colour of your leather, you will need to complete the dyeing process by nourishing and protecting your leather shoes or other leather accessories as they become very dry when cleaned or dyed. It is therefore imperative to nourish and soften them with a shoe cream (various colours available) to reinforce the colour of the leather.
Store your Saphir Teinture Francaise shoe dye in a cool, dry place and tightly close the cap to ensure proper conservation.
