How to use this product.

Before using the product on the entire surface of your leather, make sure you have stripped it first, we also advise you to do a first test on a hidden area to make sure of the color following the reaction.

Once you are satisfied with the result, apply a first coat of stain evenly, then let it dry for at least an hour before you can have a true idea of the final result.

You can apply several more coats to get the result you want. We advise you to finish the patina with a complete maintenance of the leather in order to protect it.

Saphir Purple Base Shoe Dye for Patina Design 50ml

The base purple Teinture Francaise shoe dye by Saphir (50ml) is ideal for colouring or creating a patina on smooth leather, nubuck and suede shoes.

The Teinture Francaise base purple shoe dye by Saphir serves as a base for mixing with other dye colours. If you are a lover of fine leather, this is a must-have product for creating your own personalised colour shades. The dye is sold in a set that includes a pair of gloves to protect your hands, a cotton wick applicator and a Saphir colour mixing guide. This French-made Saphir leather dye was created in 1872 and is a long-standing favourite among leather lovers for colouring shoes or other small leather accessories including belts, bags and wallets.

The base purple shoe dye can be used alone or mixed with other dyes to obtain the exact shade that you want. Any purple leather that has been damaged or has had its colour removed can be touched up with this dye to restore a uniform colour and a new look. It is particularly useful for dyeing an entire leather item or for creating a patina. For the latter, the dye is applied either to leather that has never been coloured, or that has had its colour removed in preparation for dyeing. Before colouring your leather item, make sure that you are in a well-ventilated area and cover your clothing as well as any valuable objects to prevent them from getting stained. Always test a bit of the dye on a hidden area of the leather to determine whether it produces the colour you want. This is a very important step since leather differs widely from one item to another and thus reacts differently during the dyeing process. If you are satisfied with the results, apply a thin and even first coat over the entire surface of the shoe and allow it to dry for at least one hour before moving on to the next step. If the colour is not intense enough after an hour, do not hesitate to add additional coats of the dye, but be mindful of the one-hour drying time required after each coat. Once you are satisfied with the colour of your leather, you will need to complete the dyeing process by nourishing and protecting your leather shoes. You may even wish to use a violet or dark red shoe cream as this will add depth to the leather colour, enhance a patina or mask any imperfections. Complete the process with a shoe polish to protect the leather and give it a shine.

Store your shoe dye in a cool, dry place to ensure a long shelf life, and remember to tightly close the bottle cap.
