How to use this product.

Precautions for use: use this product in a ventilated room and protect your work surface to avoid staining it.

The dye is always applied to leather that has been stripped with a stripper specially designed for smooth leather. Once you have stripped the entire shoe and obtained a matt leather, you can apply the dye. The dye is applied to the entire shoe using the tool provided or a brush. To achieve the desired colour, you need to apply several coats so that the result is even. When you have obtained the desired result, let your shoes dry for several hours.

The next day you can maintain your shoes by applying a Mr. Shoe polish cream rich in fatty substances to intensely nourish them and intensify the colour. Then finish with Monsieur Chaussure shoe polish paste with beeswax to make it shine and protect it from humidity.

Be sure to keep the dye in a dry room away from heat.

Saphir Black Shoe Dye for Patina Design 50ml

The black Teinture Francaise shoe dye by Saphir is ideal for colouring smooth leather, nubuck and suede or for creating a patina.

The black Saphir Teinture Francaise liquid shoe dye colours your leather shoes or small black leather accessories including belts, wallets or handbags. It can also be used for creating a patina that imitates the effects of natural aging on leather. A number of leather lovers and shoemakers swear by this dye for its effectiveness and user-friendliness. The dye is sold in a set that includes a pair of gloves and a cotton wick applicator.

For best results, use the Saphir Teinture Francaise black shoe dye only on leather that has been cleaned or that has had its colour removed. This will prevent dust particles from getting trapped into the pores of the leather when the dye is applied. Use the dye in a well-ventilated area and cover your clothing as well as any valuable objects to prevent them from getting stained. The dye can be used occasionally on scuffed areas of the leather as its black colour restores an intense colour and hides any traces of friction. The 50ml-sized bottle contains enough product to dye a pair of shoes black. To do so, start by testing a bit of the dye on a hidden area, such as the shoe tongue. This preliminary test is very important as it allows you to determine whether the leather reacts well to the dye and if you are able to achieve the colour you want. If the test shows the results you want, apply the dye over your entire shoe in thin, even coats. Always wait for one hour between each coat to see what the final results are once the leather has dried. Two or three coats are usually required when using very dark colours to obtain a very intense black shade. The first coats often appear with green or blue undertones but will eventually darken to a black colour as you apply more coats of the dye to the leather. Always remember to wait at least one hour between each coat. Once you are satisfied with the colour obtained, you will need to complete the dyeing process by nourishing and protecting your leather shoes or other leather accessories. Leather becomes very dry when cleaned or dyed. It is therefore imperative to nourish and soften it with a shoe cream, preferably a black-coloured one, as this will reinforce the dark shade and touch up any scuffs or scratches later on. Complete the process with a shoe polish to waterproof and shine the leather.

Store your Saphir dye in a cool, dry place.
