The fawn Teinture Francaise shoe dye by Saphir (50ml) colours smooth leather, suede and nubuck shoes and can also be used to create a patina.
The Saphir Teinture Française leather dye is ideal for colouring or creating a patina on your shoes or any leather accessory including belts, wallets and handbags. This fawn dye colours any leather item with an orange-tinged caramel brown colour and can be mixed with other dyes to create a patina. The fawn dye works particularly well with a brown patina. The Saphir dye comes in a full set that includes a cotton wick applicator and a pair of gloves.
Use this dye on leather that has had its colour removed or on raw leather to obtain as light a base colour as possible. It is often much easier to dye a light colour dark. You can use this fawn dye to occasionally recolour specific areas of your leather shoes or other items that have lost their colour due to friction. Always use the dye in a well-ventilated area and cover your clothing as well as any valuable objects to prevent them from getting stained. Test a bit of the dye on a hidden area to determine whether it produces the colour you want. Apply an even first coat of the dye and allow it to dry for at least one hour. If the colour is not intense enough after an hour, do not hesitate to add additional coats of the dye, but be mindful of the one-hour drying time required after each coat of your Saphir fawn dye. Once you are satisfied with the final results, you will need to nourish the leather since the dyeing process makes it very fragile. Use either a neutral shoe cream or one that has a tint similar to the fawn colour to nourish the leather and partially colour it. A tinted cream gives you the option to play on the undertones of the newly dyed leather. You can complete the process with a shoe polish to waterproof and shine the leather.
Close the bottle cap of your fawn shoe dye tightly for proper conservation. Store the bottle in a cool, dry place.
